Undoubtedly one of Lesotho's most challenging landing strips. There is almost always a right quartering tailwind for landing on this one-way strip. In this video clip we approach and land with almost no wind. Clinic is clearly visible on the left (on landing) of the airstrip. GPS coordinates: S29*42'39.00 E028*17'40.00

The bar located the highest in Africa. There is nothing else in this village but this wonderful accommodating facilities for which white tourists on 4 wheel drive from South Africa would visit just to breath good air and leave. Cottages with a fire place, wi-fi and electricity are provided and gorgeous foods served at this wonderful place, Sani Mountain Lodge. Anyhow, our bed is in the middle of the village, a 15 minutes walk away. Spending a night and thinking it was a huge mistake to sleep in a summer tent at 3000m elevation, I sweared to myself to stay at the cottage one day. FYI, hot shower and kitchen is available even for tent users. No worries if you have sleeping bags. If you don't, I recommend the dormitory. translated by Mizue Kawamura

We are so in love with Lesotho. While walking in the capital city Maseru or here in Mokhotlong, we feel the calm air that is different from neighbor South African nations where we have to be careful. Not just that it is a countryside but the landscape with clouds right above us and the cool and kind people made us want to stay longer although I know it is hard to imagine the toughness of this country in the winter time. We already feel cold in the early summer. translated by Mizue Kawamura
Landing on Saba island in the Caribbean. Pilots must have special training to land here. The landing strip is 400 meters (1300 feet) in total length. There aren't any overrun areas on either end of the paved runway where shear cliffs immediately drop off over 200 feet into the sea. Officially, the runway is permanently closed to all air traffic as is designated by the "X" on each end. However, aircraft are permitted to operate on Saba by obtaining waivers from the Netherlands Antilles' Civil Aviation Authority

Here's a video of the streets and alleys of Maseru. I started filming just by the military airbase, and finished once we reached Maseru West. It's typical of the kind of stuff you see in the area of big cities. There wasn't as much traffic as we anticipated even though today the city would host a return of the exiled political leaders from the attempted coup in 2015. Anyone you see wearing red or yellow are in support of their favorite politician. ... Come to think of it, the politics in this region are less like governmental functions and more like sporting events. We got a ride from the safety and security manager of Peace Corps for this drive. Two other volunteers got out to continue heading south into Thaba Tseka, while I stayed in the capital until I could find a place to live. (Ma...
